Pronunciation: hop AL·loy (not aLOY) Definition: A beer made by combining two or more hop elements, especially to give greater strength or taste.
Hop Alloy is a melding of 6 hop varieties that pays homage to both classic floral and pine flavors, as well as current favorites including tangerine, citrus and mango. This utility IPA is a go-to brew for multiple hop palettes!
Because our brewery is located in a renovated metal factory, we wanted to brew a beer that honors the time-tested process of melting and mixing metals to create an alloy, which the dictionary describes as "a metal made by combining two or more metallic elements, especially to give greater strength or resistance to corrosion." We feel the fusion of hops is a similar effective process, and so have coined the definition of our beer as follows:
We hope you enjoy the amalgamation of hops in Axemann Brewery's Hop Alloy IPA.
To bring it all together, our Hop Alloy logo features a foundry worker, again to respect the history of the metal factory, while re-imagining the molten metal as beer, of course, with splashing hops to show the ingredients that come together in the forging of this delicious undertaking.
The HOP ALLOY text is created from a metallic font, to convey the industrial feel of our brewery operation and roots.
And on a final note, while the metal company that operated in the brewery facility took on different ownership and names over the years (Alpha, Titan, Cerro, Bolton), the business was solidly rooted in the manufacture of metal products, and also in the community of Bellefonte. One offshoot of the company, Bolton Metal Products, still survives on location today - employing local personnel and creating alloys used in many tools and other items. You will find several of these alloy plates embedded in our bar.
